So it’s been a while since I last posted something about my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! /bike here. And lo, a new bike has blessed me with its presence!
First off, I sold my 2012 Ducati Monster 796, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , because it spent quite a bit of time in the shop, plus its valve service intervals were every 7,500 miles and that cost around $1000 every time I needed them done... It was a great bike, don’t get me wrong, it was nice for lane-splitting and had a great road feel; but it was a bit needy for it was.
Me having a nice time
So now with that gone, I bought something with:
a.) more power
b.) more valves
c.) higher mileage valve service intervals
and
d.) worse gas mileage!
Care to take any guesses? Well too, late, it’s a 2014 Aprilia Tuono V4R.
Review coming shortly, after this Labor Day’s track day at Buttonwillow.

Awesome!
Now get a suitably obnoxious exhaust and a race ECU. I have an RSV4 with the SC Project option, highly recommended, along with the best ear plugs you can get.
Fair warning, riding it on a proper race track will ruin motorcycling as you know it. Make sure you wheelie past the plebs on 600s when you motor them on the straights, in order to assert dominance.

Actually, the service for the V4 is cheaper, if you can believe it.

I used to have the SC project CR-T on my monster; wayyyyyy too loud.
I may pick up an akra pipe and get a Rexxer tune in the future!

The race ECU on these disables the exhaust flapper that quiets things
down at low revs to meet noise standards or whatever.
The Akra pipes should
come with a flash for the
ECU if bought from the dealer. Still sound nice, just not obnoxious.
Either way, make sure you do pipe & tune the same time, doing pipe only will cook your valves.

Cool! Congrats! Not gonna lie though I’m disappointed you didn’t get a bigger, newer monster Love mine! Really curious to know how comfortable this thing is for over an hour. I sat on one recently and didn’t like it, but as we all know sitting on and riding are two different things. And I know a guy who has one but he says he can’t ride it for more than half an hour because it’s too uncomfortable. And because of that, he almost never rides at all.

I have the gel seat on it. It’s pretty comfortable!

Damn, both very cool bikes. I’m leaning on wanting a monster or something of that style of my R6. More comfortable to ride in the city and still a blast to rip on the track.
